Workers Memorial Day 2017 Liverpool Events Announced

Every year more people are killed at work than in wars. Most don’t die of mystery ailments, or in tragic “accidents”. They die because an employer decided their employees’ safety just wasn’t that important a priority. International Workers’ Memorial Day (IWMD) commemorates these workers.

These are the opening words of this year's Worker's Memorial Day leaflet from the Trade Unions in Liverpool.

Two events take place at the same time, 11:30 am on Friday 28th April 2017.

One is organised by the Merseyside Asbestos Victims Support Group taking place at the South Piazza of Georges Dock Building Pier Head, Liverpool L3 1DD (Corner of Mann Island and the Strand)

The other is traditionally at Unite the union, Jack Jones House, 2 Churchill Way, Liverpool L3 8EF where there will be the laying of a memorial wreath.

The third event takes place between 1pm and 2.30pm again at the Unite building.
